How does treatment work?

How does the procedure work?

Restylane® treatment is an easy and quick treatment. There is no need for a pre-test, the treatment is done immediately and it takes approximately half an hour. A small amount of Restylane® is injected with an extremely fine needle just below the skin to provide the desired level of volume. This gives instant results.

Is it painful?

It depends on how high a level your pain sensitivity is. Many people who have the injections report minimal pain, with no need for the application of sedation when treating wrinkles and folds. Lip treatments are somewhat different because they can be uncomfortable, in which case an anaesthetic can be used. Our dentists are experts at performing this treatment and will make use of ice packs and creams such as topical anaesthetic to make treatment as comfortable as we can.

Do the fillers have a long life?

You will see the results immediately and the effect should last anything from 6 to 12 months. However, this will depend on each individual patient's response. There are numerous factors that will affect the results, including the makeup of the skin, age and lifestyle, not forgetting the nature of desired results. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is similar to your own skin, with the same occurrences over time that will alter the makeup of your skin and make the implant change. The end result will be that the implant completely vanishes from the body and there is no residue left. A lot of people have another treatment for folds and wrinkles within 12 months, and at around 6 months following lip treatment.

How safe is the procedure?

Restylane® is extremely safe as the hyaluronic acid does not have any animal ingredients. There is consequently no danger of passing on diseases or getting allergic reactions. This is why no pre-test is needed. Homeopathic remedies are given to reduce any redness or swelling following treatment. Once the effects weaken the material is then gone without a trace.
