Dentistry has come a long way…
When you look back through history, dental treatment is something which often leaves contemporary audiences reeling in horror at what extremes were done in order to cease any horrific pain which modern day medicine can pretty much eradicate. Take the local blacksmith, for example. You would be incredibly lucky today if you were to find a blacksmith when walking around a large city, but it was only a matter of a few centuries ago that not only did they provide horses with some fine looking shoes but they also helped peasants out by producing what was called a “pelican” that could be used by absolutely anybody to remove any painful teeth.
Thankfully, times have improved. Although there are a number of dental treatments available, “Ceramic Tooth Reconstruction” (CEREC) is one such fine example of how far dentistry has come since those barbaric days. A commonly used practise in contemporary dentistry, CEREC is mainly used for creating veneers and crowns in a pain-free way which hadn’t been done prior to CEREC’s creation. If a patient needs multiple treatments, they do not need to visit their dentist on several instances and with a singular one to two hour visit can help assist the patient to get the treatment they need. Dentists understand that genuine fear strikes many of their patients so any opportunity to cut down on the number of visits and pain which was normally incurred before CEREC is welcome. So what does this technology do for the teeth?
After the teeth are scanned pain free by digital technology, the scans are then consulted in order to decide on what is the best way forward to resolve their customer’s dental problems. It is after looking at this data that the dentist can suggest possible treatments to the customer and decide on once-complex issues in one swift go.
Once the treatment has been agreed by both the dentist and patient crowns, veneers, partial crowns and any other product which is required by the patient can be created using ceramic material that can fit the patients’ mouth perfectly. The newly-created teeth rarely require crowning due to the patients’ healthy teeth being saved thanks to smaller adhesive gaps.
