Turn Back The Hands Of Time With Our Anti-Wrinkle Treatments For Patients In The City Of London

December 13th, 2012

If you are prone to reminiscence and reflection, you may have found yourself in that mildly clichéd state of wishing ‘you knew what you know now’ back in some flutter of youth. Actually returning to that time period with one’s current experiences would probably be horrifying. Years of relationships undone, loved ones now strangers and those cherished memories tarnished by little imperfections you mercifully forgot. Thankfully, we at Devonshire Square Dental Studio in the city of London don’t manipulate the flow of time. We can, however, make it look like you can! With our anti-wrinkle treatments, you can look youthful without having to return to the years of teen angst and petty rivalries.

What is Botox?

Botox is a toxin which, if applied to the facial region in tiny amounts, is perfectly harmless, can relax the muscles of the face and will lessen the appearance of wrinkles. Botox can also be used to treat a variety of medical conditions, including muscle spasms and motor neuron disease, but it is most commonly associated with aesthetic procedures.

A typical procedure

Well, you won’t need to set aside much time for it! A normal Botox procedure will take roughly 10 minutes, meaning you can usually fit a Botox session in over a lunch break. We simply need to inject the Botox wherever it is you want to feel the Botox’s effect. You should notice a change in appearance after about 2 or 3 days, with further improvements surfacing for about a month after application. These results will then sustain themselves for roughly 4 months. If you like the results, you simply need a Botox top up a few months down the line!

Does it hurt?

Some minor discomfort is possible, but we use a very fine needle so it shouldn’t really.

Will my face appear frozen!?

Thankfully no: Botox relaxes but does not paralyse muscle movement, meaning you will be more than able to dramatically flex that youthful looking face however you want. Effects of the treatment will be visible for about 3 days after Botox application, but you should have no problems after that.

A Younger, More Youthful Face For Patient In London With Botox

September 4th, 2012

Botox anti-wrinkle treatment smooths the skin and gives a more youthful complexion within a week or two. Results last for three to four months and are easily topped up for on-going youthful appearance.

Gently injected using a micro-needle within facial muscles where wrinkles are present, such as on the brow and around the eyes, nose and mouth; Botulinum toxin A safely works by preventing nerve impulses from contracting muscles that cause wrinkles to develop. Each treatment site takes approximately 5 minutes as Botox is carefully injected in tiny amounts for minimal discomfort.

As Botox relaxes the muscles and facial skin, the wrinkles smooth out giving the face a more serene and younger look. The treatment is increasingly popular among men and women for softening facial lines, making wrinkles disappear, enhancing skin quality.

What can it treat?

Those that have developed deep lines or furrows on the forehead, between the eyes, around the nose and mouth, may particularly benefit from the skin relaxing effects of Botox. Scars sometimes become prominent with age or as muscles contract. Botox may be used to minimise the prominence of scars.

The medical field has long recognised the advantages of Botulinum toxin, used in treating excess perspiration and neuro-muscular conditions. The relaxing effect of Botox benefits people who experience muscle spasms and pain. Those with migraine conditions may be treated with Botox.

Benefits of Botox

The benefits of Botox treatment are physical, emotional and psychological.  People having Botox treatment for cosmetic purposes experience a younger looking skin. Botox for medical treatment alleviates discomfort and pain. The effects of Botox boost self-image and confidence, promoting an overall sense of well-being.

Initial Botox injections with top-ups will  in the long run mean that less treatments are required. On consultation, the Botox practitioner advises on treatment duration and top-ups to optimise skin rejuvenation that varies per person.

Brighter More Refreshed Faces with Facial Rejuvenation Treatments at Devonshire Square Dental in Central London

June 14th, 2012

At Devonshire Square Dental Studio, Central London, there is much more on offer than just dental treatments and we now offer a number of facial cosmetic treatments available to patients who want to revamp their appearance. The types of treatments on offer include Botox and Dermal Filler treatments, all of which can be provided at the practice along with the usual cosmetic dentistry treatments.

Facial Cosmetic Treatments

Facial Cosmetic Treatments available at the surgery offer patients the opportunity to look both younger and healthier, with trained professionals able to enhance your appearance with Botox injections. This treatment helps to relax the muscles of the targeted area, thus smoothing out the skin and helping to prevent visible lines and wrinkles. The treatments can help a number of different areas and issues such as; frown lines, lower eyelids, sides of the nose, neck, upper lip, wrinkles around the eyes and a wrinkled forehead. All procedures are usually noticeable within two to three days, and last upwards of six months. If patients wish to repeat the treatments they can return to the practice within three to six months.

Restylane Treatments

Using a natural and biodegradable material, Restylane can help reverse the aging process by returning volume to the skin. The treatment helps to combat the thinning of collagen that supports the skin as it breaks down as we age. It also rejuvenates skin contours as it adds volume to the tissue. A treatment session usually last anywhere between 10 and 30 minutes and usually doesn’t require anaesthesia. The results of Restylane are immediate and you can experience the results of the treatment for up to a year.

Both Botox and Dermal Fillers are an excellent facial aesthetic alternative to invasive surgery and can improve your appearance by several years.

What Problem Areas can Botox Treat, to Refresh My Appearance in Central London?

May 26th, 2012

One of the most popular cosmetic treatments in Central London is Botox. Botox involves the injection of greatly diluted solutions of botulinum toxin type A, using a very fine needle, into the precise areas where treatment is required. Because the needle is so fine, and the solution so diluted, pain is at an absolute minimum. The treatment usually takes less than five minutes per area.

What does Botox do, and where can it be used?

The toxin used in Botox injections blocks the impulse from the nerve to the muscles, which relaxes the muscles so that they do not contract. Due to this lack of contraction, facial lines will be less visible or disappear, as they no longer experience the ‘pull’ of the muscles from underneath. The skin over the muscles where the injection has been given then remains smooth, while the untreated areas continue to contract just as normal. The effects of a Botox treatment can last around three to four months, although the length of the treatment effect increases over time. In other words, if you undergo further treatments, the effects should last longer.

Botox is used to treat many parts of the face where the signs of aging are most visible. The treatment can ‘soften’ the lines in the upper part of the face, and thus can be used to treat lines or furrows on the forehead, as well as ‘crow’s feet’ around the eyes and ‘frown lines’ between the eyebrows. In addition, Botox can be used to treat wrinkles on the nose or scars, as well as reducing smoker’s lines around the lips. Slightly different uses can include creating arched eyebrows, or even slightly changing the shape of the eye, by opening the eye, and Botox can also be used to treat excessive perspiration.

How does facial aesthetics at City of London dentists combine with dentistry?

January 7th, 2012

Over the last few years, a growing number of dental practices have started offering facial aesthetics treatments in additional to traditional dental services – but the link between the two treatments may seem a little random.

Dental treatment is designed to fix dental problems, prevent diseases and pain and enhance the aesthetics of the smile, while facial aesthetic treatments is designed to create a more attractive, youthful appearance. The aims of both types of treatment are the same: to enhance and improve the aesthetics of your smile and face and give you a confidence boost that makes you feel and look great.

Facial aesthetics is big business and many people are now opting to have treatment. Such treatments include Botox and dermal fillers, able to roll back the years and create a fresher complexion. If you have a cosmetic dental treatment to improve your smile, you may wish to indulge in a facial procedure to give yourself a further confidence boost and ensure that your new smile is complemented perfectly.

Facial treatments

The most popular facial treatments, often known as facial rejuvenation, include Botox and Dermal Fillers. Botox and fillers are injected into specific areas of the face to smooth lines and wrinkles and make the skin look fresher and younger. As we age, the skin loses its natural elasticity, which makes it appear saggy and dull. Botox prevents the facial muscles from working properly, which stops lines from forming. It is most often used in the forehead, around the eyes and around the mouth. The procedure to have fillers is very safe if carried out by a trained professional and it should not be painful. As the results are not permanent you are not committed to a totally new look.

Why should I consider facial treatment?

Facial aesthetics is not for everyone but it is becoming increasingly popular, as people look for ways to preserve their youthful glow. The treatment is not invasive and the results are not permanent, so you are not making a huge commitment like if you were having a face-life.

Facial treatment from City of London dentists that can change how you look in the New year

January 5th, 2012

We all make little promises to improve our lives in the New Year, hoping to enter the start of the next twelve months with a healthier, kinder and happier outlook on life.

Facial treatment can refer to a number of things, from medication provided by a pharmacist, anti-wrinkle or anti-age cream from a dermatologist to going under the knife for cosmetic or laser surgery. Whether you want to perk up your skin, remove some wrinkles or make some changes to a nose you’ve never liked, there is likely a treatment available.

This type of facial treatment can be a real boost to self-confidence, helping in cases such as acne, which many of us will be able to remember from our teenage years. In the case of medical cream and medication, facial treatment can really help the health of your skin, boosting essential vitamin levels such as vitamin C and E.

Common facial treatments are spa and salon treatments. A range of treatments are usually offered here, from cleanings, to massages to facial masks. Such speciality facials are also commonly found here, such as acne facials, which with the help of glycolic acid, vapour mist, deep pore extractions and an anti-bacterium mask help to treat sin problems and aid in clearing up acne.

Increasingly popular remedies are at-home facials and include treatments that can be found in spas for a fraction of the price. Facial masks used at home are now very popular and can be just as effective as those used in spas and salons. Home lasers are also now available, which work on a lower setting to those used in medical centres and can help to rejuvenate surface skin cells over a period of use.

Dentists also supply a wealth of options to improve facial aesthetics, including Botox and dermal fillers, which are able to remedy crow’s lines, wrinkles and general signs of ageing.

With the number of ways of treating your skin improving almost daily is can sometimes seem daunting to pick a method for you. Shopping around and trying a number of different products can be helpful, letting you find the one that’s right for you and many big shops now sell small tester versions of a larger product to allow you to try the product.

How to decide if you should get Botox at City of London dentists

November 4th, 2011

Botox is a chemical which has been greatly studied and observed by many scientists and London professionals. As it has become an accepted practice in today’s society, many people are now investing in Botox for a younger looking appearance.

Several people around the world have heard of the Botox injection and its many uses for aesthetic and cosmetic enhancement. It is a well-known anti-aging technique, which has been practiced by doctors for many years. Botox can also be used to control hyperactive muscles, which impair your smile and also to successfully treat excessive sweating.

If you have wrinkles or a feature about your face that you feel impairs your image, you could always contact a dentist for a Botox consultation, to see what can be done to enhance your facial appearance. Lines around your eyes, creases at the corner of your mouth and frown marks can all be treated quickly and effectively with Botox treatment.

Another reason why people tend to use this medical procedure is to take years off of their skin in a quick and easy way. Sometimes people may acquire wrinkles, which highlight or emphasis their actual age, such as around the eyes and in their smile, affecting the whole shape and contour of their face. Often, first impressions rely on eye contact, gestures, and even facial expressions and cosmetic appeal. This is why the use of Botox is becoming more and more popular.

Your City of London Dentist Looks at How Much Botox is Too Much Botox

October 17th, 2011

With Botox being only ever a temporary measure people often wonder what will happen when they’ve had too many treatments. For once, the answer to a medical question is good news – you can never have too much Botox!

There is no known upper limit to Botox treatment and this means one of two things; it really is the wonder cure for wrinkles or nobody has yet maxed out on their wrinkle busting treatments. Some say that the body can build a resistance to Botox over time but this would only happen if Botox was injected too many times in a short period of time.

The thing with Botox is that the more it is used the less often it is needed and this trend is mirrored in every Botox treatment whether it is used for cosmetic purposes or for medical reasons.

When used cosmetically on the face and neck an initial treatment might last for six months but if a person receives further injections once the effects of the initial one have worn off the effects will last longer and longer each time. The reason for this is in the fact that injecting the chemical will permanently weaken the muscle to a degree and once the effects of the chemical wear off the muscle will not regain its full activity and will therefore not be able to contract to the same degree making wrinkles less visible.

It is a similar situation when Botox is used to treat such conditions as hyperhidrosis. The initial treatment in this case can often last up to a year and then with each consecutive treatment the muscles will weaken and the effects of the condition will be permanently reduced – on the condition that Botox injections are continued obviously. As Botox treatments are available without limit it is possible to improve the symptoms of a condition such as this dramatically and permanently.

All of this goes without saying that it is still important that Botox is used safely and sensibly. Botox training gives medical professionals all the skill and knowledge needed to administer Botox treatments with the safety of the patient at the forefront of their mind. Unqualified Botox providers will most likely not be too worried about the safety and wellbeing of the patient and it is in these cases where Botox treatment may not give the result a patient is hoping for. Botox can be dangerous in unskilled and unqualified hands and for this reason Botox courses aim to give medical professionals the skill and support to offer Botox treatments in honest and reliable practices.

Your London dentist looks at some of the other benefits of botox

September 14th, 2011

Although Botox is most commonly used for aesthetic improvements the benefits of Botox now go further than vanity and for this reason – along with the fact that Botox is increasingly popular for the consumer – it would be a great idea if the product was more readily available. For the product to become more accessible it is necessary that more medical professionals take Botox training courses and learn the art of safe and effective Botox provision for the consumer.

Whilst the upper face is most commonly treated with Botox injections, it can still be used in the lower face; around the mouth, nasal area, chin or jaw for example. The difference in treating the lower face though is in the fact that the lower facial muscles are much more complex and so there is a much higher risk of Botox being problematic when used below the eyes. Botox can also be used in some areas of the neck.

What many people do not realise however is that Botox can now be used to treat medical problems that aren’t completely aesthetic. Botox has been used successfully to treat hyperhidrosis – or excessive sweating – for years now and is bringing relief to thousands of people that suffer from the embarrassing problem. When Botox is injected in the underarm or palm it reduces the activity of the glands that cause the body to perspire for a period of six months to a year.

Another Botox miracle has been found in the fact that Botox can ease the symptoms of migraines and tension headaches. When the muscles in the forehead are injected with Botox it reduces muscle activity as well as the body’s perception of pain in that area and this minimises the sensitivity of migraine and tension headache sufferers to their symptoms. Botox has also been found to help various eye conditions; anal fissures; spasms of the face or neck and a number of other conditions caused by over-zealous muscle activity.

As with other drugs it is without doubt that more benefits of Botox will be discovered eventually. Therefore making Botox readily available in more places is going to be of massive benefit not only for the patient but for the service provider too. Botox training can provide medical professionals with everything they need to know about adding Botox to their treatment list and will give the consumer more and more options when it comes to finding a treatment provider that can offer Botox in a safe and trustworthy environment.

More than Just a Dentist

April 17th, 2011

Gone are the days when a dental surgery was simple the place to go for a filling or have a tooth removed. Nowadays, even a simple practice or an NHS dental surgery has the techniques and technology to perform at least some manner of simple cosmetic dentistry. And many of the leading surgeries in the country now also offer facial cosmetic work as well and Devonshire Square Dental Studio is no different.

What else can you get from your dentist?

As well as the excellent dental work – both practical and cosmetic – and sublime customer service, Devonshire has also begun to branch into facial work. All the treatments in this area are non-surgical treatments which are becoming more and more popular. The treatments include Botox and injectable fillers known as Restylane.

Botox

Most people have heard of Botox, and with good reason. It is one of the most well known and successful non-surgical facial cosmetic options. It is a fairly simple process in which diluted Botulinum is injected into designated areas. It’s used to decrease the appearance of wrinkles and blocks impulses between the nerves and muscles on the area of the face that it is injected to. One of the main concerns with non-surgical cosmetics is whether it will hurt. Botox uses an exceptionally thin needle which results in very little to no pain.

Restylane

Restylane is a type of injectable filler which is used to smooth wrinkles, add volume and lift sagging skin up. There are a staggeringly huge number of injectable fillers to choose from. The fact that the majority of these don’t use natural chemicals means that irritation and allergic reactions are not unheard of. Restylane uses natural effects and, as such, doesn’t have the same negative risks as with others. It is done in a similar way to Botox, with a small needle under the skin; this takes around half an hour and will last from 6 to 12 months, although this varies from patient to patient. Unlike with Botox, some people do find the procedure mildly painful, but not to the extent that aesthetic is needed, unless the treatment is to the lips, in which case this will be used.
