With Botox being only ever a temporary measure people often wonder what will happen when they’ve had too many treatments. For once, the answer to a medical question is good news – you can never have too much Botox!
There is no known upper limit to Botox treatment and this means one of two things; it really is the wonder cure for wrinkles or nobody has yet maxed out on their wrinkle busting treatments. Some say that the body can build a resistance to Botox over time but this would only happen if Botox was injected too many times in a short period of time.
The thing with Botox is that the more it is used the less often it is needed and this trend is mirrored in every Botox treatment whether it is used for cosmetic purposes or for medical reasons.
When used cosmetically on the face and neck an initial treatment might last for six months but if a person receives further injections once the effects of the initial one have worn off the effects will last longer and longer each time. The reason for this is in the fact that injecting the chemical will permanently weaken the muscle to a degree and once the effects of the chemical wear off the muscle will not regain its full activity and will therefore not be able to contract to the same degree making wrinkles less visible.
It is a similar situation when Botox is used to treat such conditions as hyperhidrosis. The initial treatment in this case can often last up to a year and then with each consecutive treatment the muscles will weaken and the effects of the condition will be permanently reduced – on the condition that Botox injections are continued obviously. As Botox treatments are available without limit it is possible to improve the symptoms of a condition such as this dramatically and permanently.
All of this goes without saying that it is still important that Botox is used safely and sensibly. Botox training gives medical professionals all the skill and knowledge needed to administer Botox treatments with the safety of the patient at the forefront of their mind. Unqualified Botox providers will most likely not be too worried about the safety and wellbeing of the patient and it is in these cases where Botox treatment may not give the result a patient is hoping for. Botox can be dangerous in unskilled and unqualified hands and for this reason Botox courses aim to give medical professionals the skill and support to offer Botox treatments in honest and reliable practices.

Although Botox is most commonly used for aesthetic improvements the benefits of Botox now go further than vanity and for this reason – along with the fact that Botox is increasingly popular for the consumer – it would be a great idea if the product was more readily available. For the product to become more accessible it is necessary that more medical professionals take Botox training courses and learn the art of safe and effective Botox provision for the consumer.
Whilst the upper face is most commonly treated with Botox injections, it can still be used in the lower face; around the mouth, nasal area, chin or jaw for example. The difference in treating the lower face though is in the fact that the lower facial muscles are much more complex and so there is a much higher risk of Botox being problematic when used below the eyes. Botox can also be used in some areas of the neck.
What many people do not realise however is that Botox can now be used to treat medical problems that aren’t completely aesthetic. Botox has been used successfully to treat hyperhidrosis – or excessive sweating – for years now and is bringing relief to thousands of people that suffer from the embarrassing problem. When Botox is injected in the underarm or palm it reduces the activity of the glands that cause the body to perspire for a period of six months to a year.
Another Botox miracle has been found in the fact that Botox can ease the symptoms of migraines and tension headaches. When the muscles in the forehead are injected with Botox it reduces muscle activity as well as the body’s perception of pain in that area and this minimises the sensitivity of migraine and tension headache sufferers to their symptoms. Botox has also been found to help various eye conditions; anal fissures; spasms of the face or neck and a number of other conditions caused by over-zealous muscle activity.
As with other drugs it is without doubt that more benefits of Botox will be discovered eventually. Therefore making Botox readily available in more places is going to be of massive benefit not only for the patient but for the service provider too. Botox training can provide medical professionals with everything they need to know about adding Botox to their treatment list and will give the consumer more and more options when it comes to finding a treatment provider that can offer Botox in a safe and trustworthy environment.

Gone are the days when a dental surgery was simple the place to go for a filling or have a tooth removed. Nowadays, even a simple practice or an NHS dental surgery has the techniques and technology to perform at least some manner of simple cosmetic dentistry. And many of the leading surgeries in the country now also offer facial cosmetic work as well and Devonshire Square Dental Studio is no different.
What else can you get from your dentist?
As well as the excellent dental work – both practical and cosmetic – and sublime customer service, Devonshire has also begun to branch into facial work. All the treatments in this area are non-surgical treatments which are becoming more and more popular. The treatments include Botox and injectable fillers known as Restylane.
Botox
Most people have heard of Botox, and with good reason. It is one of the most well known and successful non-surgical facial cosmetic options. It is a fairly simple process in which diluted Botulinum is injected into designated areas. It’s used to decrease the appearance of wrinkles and blocks impulses between the nerves and muscles on the area of the face that it is injected to. One of the main concerns with non-surgical cosmetics is whether it will hurt. Botox uses an exceptionally thin needle which results in very little to no pain.
Restylane
Restylane is a type of injectable filler which is used to smooth wrinkles, add volume and lift sagging skin up. There are a staggeringly huge number of injectable fillers to choose from. The fact that the majority of these don’t use natural chemicals means that irritation and allergic reactions are not unheard of. Restylane uses natural effects and, as such, doesn’t have the same negative risks as with others. It is done in a similar way to Botox, with a small needle under the skin; this takes around half an hour and will last from 6 to 12 months, although this varies from patient to patient. Unlike with Botox, some people do find the procedure mildly painful, but not to the extent that aesthetic is needed, unless the treatment is to the lips, in which case this will be used.
